Department to participate in new international research group

The Department will be participating in a new international research group on ‘The Post-Atlantic Age: A Twenty-First Century Concert of Powers?

The project analyses the emergence of new powers, historical and theoretical understandings of major power groupings or concerts, and the role that such groupings may play in 21st century global governance.  The project is led by the Peace Research Institute  Frankfurt which has been awarded a grant of just under one million euros by the Volkswagenstiftung, the Compagnia di San Paolo, the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond as part of their “Europe and Global Challengers” programme. Oxford’s participation will be led by Professor Andrew Hurrell.
