According to the Times Good University Guide 2013, Oxford came top of the overall rankings in the study of politics. The top ten were ranked as follows: 1. Oxford, 2. Cambridge, 3. Sheffield, 4. LSE, 5. Warwick, 6. Bath, 7. Essex, 8. St Andrews, 9. Durham, 10. Exeter.
According to The Times, "Politics has been enjoying a boom as a degree subject, applications growing by almost a quarter in the first two years of the decade. The trend was reversed in 2012, with the prospect of higher fees, although even after a decline of almost 9 per cent, there were still more than 30,000 applications. With six applications for every place, entry scores have been rising."
