Introduction

Sébastien Pradella holds a PhD in Political Science and Public Policy Analysis from Sciences Po Paris. He is guest lecturer at the Catholic University of Louvain.

His research deals with urban land policies governing property transactions and markets by various policy instruments mixes. The main research question is to account for the sharp variation of public control in urban growth between the similar cases of West European cities regarding urban development level and political structures.

He contributes to two theoretical frameworks : historical institutionalism and the approach centered on interactions (or sociology of public action) in the field of public policy studies. His post-doctoral research project aims at explaining why cities play an increasing role in land and real estate markets after the State retrenchment in public spending programs of the seventies. Comparison between London, Brussels and Paris will be a mean to improve and test the analytical framework developed in urban land policies analysis.
