Completed Research - China, the United States and Global Order
Professor Rosemary Foot, in conjunction with co-author, Dr Andrew Walter, from the Department of International Relations, London School of Economics, is working on a book manuscript tentatively titled 'China, the United States and Global Order'. The book asks four main questions: first, what are the key normative features of the contemporary global order in terms of which US and Chinese policies can be evaluated? Second, under what conditions will actor behaviour be consistent with global order norms? Third, what has determined the degree of Chinese and American consistency with global norms in different policy areas? And fourth, where and when has that bilateral relationship influenced those levels of consistency? The book is to be completed in 2010 and is under contract with Cambridge University Press.
