Completed Research - Europe's role in a changing world
Principal Investigator: Dr Kirsty Hughes
Europe's role in a changing world: While many have predicted the declining influence of the EU, as the multipolar global order emerges, others have continued to argue that the EU itself limits its own influence internationally by its failure to establish a genuine European foreign policy. At a time of crisis in the eurozone, the EU is inevitably focused on its deep internal problems and disagreements. Yet the European Union has moved ahead with establishing a new and powerful European External Action Service, and it remains the world's largest exporting bloc. This research will look at different aspects of the EU's engagement with and role in a changing world.
