Completed Research - Human Security and the UN: A Critical History
Professor Neil MacFarlane and Dr Yuen Foong Khong undertook this project as part of The United Nations Intellectual History Project (UNIHP), which seeks to trace the origin and analyse the evolution of key ideas and concepts about international economic and social development born or nurtured under UN auspices. This co-authored study examines the evolution of the concept of human security and the United Nation’s role therein. It also examines the utility of human security as a conceptual device around which to harmonize international responses to instability and insecurity. The book was published by Indiana University Press in January 2006.
