Caroline Fehl Awarded European Foreign and Security Policy Studies Scholarship

Date
Caroline Fehl was awarded a one-year scholarship under the European Foreign and Security Policy Studies programme of European foundations Compagnia di San Paolo, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and Volkswagen-Stiftung.

The award is for her research project, ‘A single voice for effective multilateralism? EU foreign policy coordination and transatlantic conflicts over multilateral agreements`. The studentship begins on 1 October 2007.

Caroline`s project builds on her doctoral thesis on European responses to US unilateralism, investigating whether increased coordination of national foreign policies through the EU framework strengthens the multilateral orientation of European policies. The study of transatlantic conflicts over multilateral agreements, draws on existing work on the EU as an international negotiator, while broadening the analytical scope of these existing approaches to include the EU`s second pillar, CFSP (Common Foreign and Security Policy).

Caroline Fehl is a DPhil candidate in International Relations at Nuffield College
