Daniel Butt was a guest witness on BBC Radio 4's 'Moral Maze' (8 July), in an episode entitled 'Moral Luck and the Budget'.

Daniel began by saying, "My position is that it's fundamentally unfair if we allow factors over which individuals have no control, which are a matter of unchosen luck - such as their race or their sex or their social class or who their parents are - it's fundamentally unfair if we allow that to have a major effect on how well their lives go."
