Dr Sophie Smith and Dr Teresa Bejan both awarded CRASSH Fellowship

Sophie Smith has been awarded Cambridge University's 2016-17 Quentin Skinner Fellowship in Intellectual History since c1500.


The Quentin Skinner Fellow holds a Visiting Fellowship at Cambridge's Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) for one term, where they present the Quentin Skinner lecture, as well as organising and participating in a related symposium.

The title of Dr Smith's project, and the topic of her workshop, is ‘The Nature of Politics: Political Science from Renaissance to Enlightenment’. Her lecture will be on Poetry and Political Theory in Early Modernity.

The Quentin Skinner Fellowship replaces the Balzan-Skinner Fellowship. The current and last holder of the Balzan-Skinner Fellowship is also a member of DPIR, Dr Teresa Bejan. The title of her talk is 'Acknowledging Equality', taking place on April 22nd.
