Dr Stuart White Awarded Leverhulme Research Fellowship

Date

Dr Stuart White has been awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for his project The Challenge of Religious Accommodation`. His fellowship will begin April 2008.

His project will examine how far the community should accommodate religious diversity, with a particular focus on exemptionism`. It will explore whether the practice of exemptionism is compatible with a concern for equity between citizens; on what grounds, and using what processes, the community may define the limits to exemptionism; and it will develop and apply arguments about exemptionism in general by looking at how claims for exemption and other forms of religious accommodation arise in the specific area of employment.

Dr Stuart White is University Lecturer in Politics, Tutorial Fellow in Politics, Jesus College.
