Evidence by Professor Sir Adam Roberts published in House of Commons Defence Committee report on ISIL

On 5 February the House of Commons Defence Committee published a report,  The Situation in Iraq and Syria and the response to al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq al-Sham (DAESH).  Adam Roberts' evidence to the Inquiry is mentioned in the report, paragraphs 23, 66 and 106.

In the report, Adam says, "Military operations with an anti-terrorist purpose frequently result in legal violations, because identifying legitimate targets in real time is inherently difficult, and the adversary is often hard to distinguish from the general population."

The report, and texts of written and oral evidence, are all available from http://www.parliament.uk/defcom.

Professor Sir Adam Roberts is Senior Research Fellow, Department of Politics & International Relations
