OMS launches new programme with Prof Richard Caplan

The Oxford Martin School has launched a new research programme led by Professors Jim Hall (Oxford), Steve Rayner (Oxford), and DPIR's Richard Caplan.

The Oxford Martin Programme on Transboundary Resource Management will investigate how diplomacy and natural resources systems models can promote practical cross-border co-operation for resource-based Sustainable Development Goals. These Goals, set by the United Nations, “address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice”.

"This programme aims to use ‘Track II’ diplomacy and cutting-edge natural resource systems models to promote practical cross-border co-operation for resource-based SDGs in the eastern Nile Basin and the Jordan River Basin. The programme brings together a novel team of scholars that reflects the technical, political, social and environmental dimensions of the complex challenges faced in the region. Jim Hall, Steve Rayner, and Richard Caplan will lead this ambitious new undertaking," says the Oxford Martin School.

The programme is one of a series of four launched this spring, working towards these Sustainable Development Goals.
