Prof Richard Caplan awarded Carnegie Corporation Grant

Date

Professor Richard Caplan has been awarded a one-year grant by the Carnegie Corporation of New York for his project ‘Exit Strategies and Peace Consolidation`.

The purpose of this project is to enhance scholarly and practitioner understanding of the principal challenges associated with the termination of international state-building operations and to strengthen the capacity of governmental and inter-governmental agencies to meet those challenges and plan for the withdrawal from state-building operations in a manner that is consistent with the requirements for the maintenance of a stable peace. The grant will be used to support the establishment of a research group of scholars and practitioners engaged in a comparative study of exit and the consolidation of peace in relation to four types of operation where state-building has been a major objective.

Please see the CIS website for more information about this project.

Professor Richard Caplan is Professor of International Relations in the Department of Politics and International Relations and an Official Fellow of Linacre College
