Professor Jane Gingrich takes leadership role on Canadian Institute for Advanced Research programme

Professor of Comparative Political Economy Jane Gingrich has been appointed Co-Director of the CIFAR Programme on Innovation, Equity & The Future of Prosperity (IEP).

The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) program facilitates a multidisciplinary and cross-national look at how, why, and when the benefits of innovation aren’t always broadly shared. The program develops knowledge to design and implement innovation policies, programs and practices that support equitable economic growth and fair distribution around the globe.

As Co-Director, Professor Gingrich will help organise and lead the work of the interdisciplinary group, she said: “I have enjoyed working with the IEP group for the past 3 years and am excited to move into a leadership role.”

The CIFAR IEP program supports Professor Gingrich's research and work relating to the politics of technology and equality. Her research focuses largely on the politics of education and welfare policies, examining the politics of shifting policy in response to changing economic and political alignments.

CIFAR is a global research organisation aimed at addressing the most important questions facing science and humanity. This year, the organization is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Since 1982, more than 1,000 researchers from over 30 countries have contributed to CIFAR's research programs as fellows, advisors, Canada CIFAR AI Chairs, and CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars
