Sophie Smith appointed to top post at Journal of the History of Ideas

Associate Professor of Political Theory Sophie Smith has been appointed as an executive editor of the prestigious Journal of the History of Ideas (JHI).

Sophie’s appointment was one of three made by the publication following an extensive international search. She joins an interdisciplinary team including Manan Ahmed (Columbia University, History), Don J. Wyatt (Middlebury College, History), Martin J. Burke (CUNY Grad Center, History), Stefanos Geroulanos (NYU, History), and Ann Moyer (Univ. of Pennsylvania, History).

She brings expertise in early modern political ideas and the history of feminist politics and political theory to the role.

The quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal was first published in 1940 and covers intellectual history and the history of ideas, including the histories of philosophy, literature and the arts, natural and social sciences, religion, and political thought.
