Sudhir Hazareesingh comments on Macron's first round victory

Sudhir Hazareesingh has appeared on BBC Breakfast to comment on the results of the first round of the French Presidential elections.

Sudhir comments that 'One of the things that I conclude in my book is that France is always divided into clusters of two. I think this election shows that is still true, in the sense that the second round will be between the optimists, represented by Emmanuel Macron, and the pessimists, represented by Marine Le Pen. So in that respect, at least, the French are still being true to form'

The programme can be watched on the BBC website - Sudhir's interview is at 8.30am.
