Two Awards for Samuel Faure for European and Strategic Studies Research

Dr Samuel Faure has received two prestigious PhD awards for his doctoral research on the politics of defence procurement in Europe, which bridges European and strategic studies.


Samuel received the 2017 Jean-Louis Quermonne Award (CEDECE Association d'etudes Européennes) for his doctoral dissertation, 'Varieties of Decision. The Dilemma of the Politics of Defense Procurement in Europe: The Case of France from 1945 to the Present.' He was also awarded the 2017 National Institute for Higher Defence Studies Prize (IHEDN Institut des Hauts Etudes de Défense Nationale) for his work in strategic studies.

Dr Faure is a postdoctoral research fellow on the OxPo academic exchange programme which provides a platform for collaborative work for researchers from the University of Oxford and the Sciences Po in Paris. He is an Associate Member of Nuffield College and of Maison Française d'Oxford, and is the author of 'Défense européenne: émergence d'une culture stratégique commune' on the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy.
