Walter Ladwig's research has been quoted in a recent Economist article (01 August) on the difficulties in relations between India and Pakistan.

Walter's research argues that argues that Pakistan’s army is strong enough to deter Indian policymakers from thinking that “they can either achieve strategic surprise against Pakistan or carry out highly effective air strikes with little escalatory risk.”

Dr Walter C. Ladwig III studied a DPhil in International Relations at Oxford, and was later a Departmental Lecturer at DPIR.
