About the role

Applications are welcomed for a Fellowship Assistant & PA to Fellowship Director to join the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ). This is an exciting opportunity to join an outstanding team committed to connecting academic scholarship of the highest standards to major issues of relevance to journalists and editors from around the world.

As Fellowship Assistant & PA to Fellowship Director, you will provide administration in support of the established Journalist Fellowship Programme, which brings mid-career journalists to Oxford from all over the world to improve their knowledge and to study issues important to their professional development. You will also support the establishment and running of a new initiative, the Oxford Climate Journalism Network. You will also manage the day-to-day organisation of the Fellowship Director’s diary, arrange meetings (both in person and online), calls and conference access (both as speaker and attendee), organise their travel and help with forward planning.

The position is fixed-term until 31 December 2022 and is offered on a full time basis, ideally starting as soon as possible.

About you

You will be educated to A level (or equivalent) and have excellent organisational skills, initiative and a willingness to accept responsibility and work independently. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have experience of event organisation, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with people at all levels. You will also have experience of managing administrative processes and the ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure to fixed deadlines with minimal supervision while maintaining exemplary attention to detail. You should be skilled in the use of Outlook, Teams, Zoom and Excel. A general interest in media and current affairs is desirable, and any experience working with culturally diverse groups will be an advantage.
