I am a doctoral student at the University of Oxford in the Department of Politics and International Relations, researching the interplay of welfare state institutions and criminal legal systems. My dissertation asks why some countries are more punitive than others when handling crime. My broader research interests include comparative political economy, electoral systems and behaviour, inequality, race and ethnicity, and state capacity. Previously, I received a MPhil from the University of Oxford (2017) and a BA from Johns Hopkins University (2015).
