Frederik is a third-year DPhil student in International Relations. His research focusses on the strategic role of organised crime and corruption in US military interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq. More specifically, he researches when and why organised crime and corruption become a strategic threat and when not. Besides his interest in US foreign policy he also maintains a larger interest in international security politics and Russian politics. He is a research assistant for the Global Security Programme at Pembroke College.

Prior to his studies in Oxford, Frederik obtained a MSc in Global Crime, Justice, and Security from the University of Edinburgh. Next to his studies he enjoys the occasional chess game and playing music (clarinet, guitar, piano).
