Caroline Lees is a British journalist. She worked for The Sunday Times, for seven years including time spent as South Asia Correspondent, reporting from India, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and as a news reporter and assistant foreign editor. She has reported extensively from Africa and has been assistant editor of The Scotsman, foreign editor at The Sunday Express, Scotland on Sunday and Sunday Telegraph.
She has also written for The Economist, The Spectator, Marie Claire, The Independent. She was awarded a Special Commendation in the Foreign Reporter of the Year category, British Press Awards, 1996 for her reporting from South Asia.
Caroline holds a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics. She has edited a number of academic books and papers on subjects ranging from the economics of federalism to third world colonialism. Her broader research interests include media in eastern Europe, and social media and democracy in developing countries.
