My DPhil project lies at the intersection of international relations and international law, with a strong historical dimension. I am examining the emergence of the concept of the enemy of mankind in international law, with a particularly focus on the writings of the early modern jurist Alberico Gentili. More broadly, I am interested in the evolution of the modern institution of war and of its constitutive ‘outside’.
Prior to the DPhil, I obtained a BA in International Relations from Brown University and an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford. I have also worked as a legal officer on a defense team before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
