Academic Profile

Jakob Hensing is a DPhil candidate at the University of Oxford. His current research focuses on post-conflict economic reconstruction and private sector development, with an emphasis on the role of international firms. His broader fields of academic interest include state-building and state formation, (international) political economy, accountability and change in international organizations, as well as African and Middle Eastern politics.

Jakob holds an MPhil in International Relations, also from Oxford, and a BA in Integrated Social Sciences from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. Outside academia, he has worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Company and as a research associate with the Global Public Policy Institute, volunteered with the German Academic Exchange Service in Damascus, and completed an internship at the German Foreign Office.
