Josie Hornung is currently a visiting doctoral student at the University of Oxford’s Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR), and a Ph.D. candidate in International Relations at the University of Queensland, Australia. She is broadly interested in peace and conflict studies and mass atrocity prevention, and her research looks at the decision-making process that has historically led to action or inaction in the face of imminent mass atrocities. Her research project is titled ‘The Pre-Emptive Use of Force for Atrocity Prevention’ and is supervised by Professor Chris-Reus-Smit and Professor Alex Bellamy. Josie graduated from the Australian National University with a B.A in 2011, and a Master of International Relations (Advanced) in 2016.
