Centre for Advanced Social Science Methods

The Centre for Advanced Social Science Methods (CASSM) is a new initiative supporting methodological innovation across the social sciences. The Centre brings together researchers from across the University to advance the methods, training, appointments, and research infrastructure needed for ambitious, interdisciplinary work.

Its work reflects a simple idea: methods travel. Causal inference, experimental design, and new AI-enabled approaches are reshaping research across the social sciences, and some of the most exciting work happens when these tools move between fields.

Through new academic appointments, seminars, training, and the development of the CASSM Lab, the Centre will support students, early-career researchers, and established scholars working at the frontier of advanced social science methods. In doing so, CASSM aims to strengthen Oxford’s capacity for world-leading social science research and foster new connections across departments and disciplines.
