The CASSM Colloquium Series is a space for researcher's interested in receiving feedback on their experimental designs prior to gathering any data. The abstract for this week's presenter can be found below.
Abstract
Existing research has shown that perceived nationality, ethnicity, race, migrant background, and social class can affect access to housing in a variety of contexts. However, there is a lack of systematic evidence for whether discrimination takes place in Cairo's growing online private rental market. This project proposes the first use of a correspondence experiment in Egypt to test whether prospective tenants from different national backgrounds encounter unequal treatment when applying for online rental properties.
