This, the eighteenth annual OxPeace Conference, takes place in the 80th year since the inaugural meeting of the UN General Assembly, held in the Methodist Central Hall, London, in January-February 1946. That Assembly designed how the UN would operate to fulfil its Charter. Now in 2026 the UN exists in a world context that has undergone deep changes. What roles does, or should, the UN play now and in the future, and how can it fulfil them? This Conference will consider the broad global picture, and home in on specific areas of international law, humanitarian action, peace operations, and resources for peacebuilding in some major faiths, with time for interaction and discussion. Registration is encouraged, especially for catering purposes. Coffee, tea, and a sandwich lunch are provided.
