John is a Project Administrator working within DPIR’s Research Facilitation Team, providing day-to-day administration for DPIR research projects in which his time has been costed, and contributing to a range of other post-award and research facilitation activities in the department.

Before joining DPIR, John worked in research project management at Royal Holloway, University of London, in research facilitation at the Oxford Internet Institute, and completed a PhD at the University of Birmingham that examined the implications of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis alongside writings by Jacques Derrida.

Responsibilities:

  • Single point of contact for professional services.
  • Overseeing project timelines.
  • Preparing detailed budgets, providing financial forecasts, and monitoring financial information.
  • Raising and receipting purchase orders, including booking travel.
  • Ensuring the fulfilment of sponsor reporting requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with departmental and University policies, processes and procedures.
  • Coordinating with the HR Team for the recruitment of postdoctoral researchers and casual staff.
  • Coordinating the negotiation and signature of research collaboration agreements and service / consultancy agreements.
  • Providing file management.
  • Supporting Open Access processes.
  • Supporting with events organisation and communications.
  • Supporting adherence to research ethics processes.

 

Working patterns:

I work Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm and I am usually in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
