Dr Adam Swift, Director of the Centre for the Study of Social Justice, will be co-directing (with Dr Ingrid Robeyns, University of Amsterdam) a workshop at the ECPR Joint Sessions, Helsinki, May 7th-12th 2007: `Social Justice: Ideal Theory, Non-ideal Circumstances`.

Political theorising is often accused of operating at such an abstract and idealised level that it fails to connect with the real world. This workshop will explore, and attempt to bridge, the gap between ideal social justice theory and the the concrete, often far from ideal, circumstances that confront political actors and policy-makers.
