Dr David Rueda selected for CASBS at Stanford University

Dr David Rueda selected to participate in the Summer Institute at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.


Dr David Rueda has been selected to participate in the Summer Institute at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University. He and 20 other academics, which includes political scientists, sociologists, business and legal scholars, and economists from around the world, will take part in a four-week intensive Summer Institute titled, ‘Economy and Society: Trajectories of Capitalism.`

The Summer Institute participants will look at the effect of economic globalization from many angles, including manufacturing, workplace security, investment in technology and research, media, politics, leisure activities and borrowing. Together the scholars will discuss, collaborate and conduct research to enhance the understanding of the connections between a country`s national and global policies and ideologies.

David is University Lecturer in Quantitative Political Science and Tutorial Fellow in Politics at Merton College. Some of his recent publications are ‘Social Democracy and Active Labour Market Policies: Insiders, Outsiders, and the Politics of Employment Promotion,` Forthcoming, British Journal of Political Science and ‘Insider-Outsider Politics in Industrialized Democracies: The Challenge to Social Democratic Parties,` American Political Science Review, 99 (February 2005): 61-74.
