Professor Walter Mattli receives John Fell OUP Research Fund award

Date

Congratulations to Walter Mattli, who has received a generous John Fell OUP Research Fund award in support of a major new research project on the infrastructure (or plumbing) and governance of international capital markets.

At the center are the exchanges.  When they run smoothly, they facilitate capital formation and risk management and enable economic growth and prosperity.  When they are poorly governed or corrupted, they impose enormous costs upon society.  The project brings together economics, political science, sociology, finance, and business studies.  It will develop and test a set of hypotheses regarding governance on an original dataset on ownership and control, applying the latest methods in social network analysis.  The John Fell Fund Award offers critical seed funding for this project, enabling Professor Mattli to launch larger external funding bids in the coming months.
