Rachel Bernhard joins DPIR as Associate Professor of Quantitative Political Science Research Methods

The Department is delighted to announce Rachel Bernhard has returned to Oxford to join the team as Associate Professor of Quantitative Political Science Research Methods and a member of Nuffield College.

Rachel was a Postdoctoral Prize Fellow in Politics at Nuffield College from 2018-19 and was previously an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Davis. She holds a PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Rachel is presently writing a book on appearance-based discrimination in politics. She has recently taught classes on political psychology and public policy, identity politics, statistics and research design, women in politics, and computational methods.

Before she started graduate school, she worked for several years in public health and education.

She said: “I am thrilled to return to this wonderful community of scholars. I’m really looking forward to spending time walking through the College gardens again—and wondering where I can step on the grass and where I can’t!”
