Reflecting on World Mental Health Day: Support is available when you need it

World Mental Health Day 2026 | Wellbeing at DPIR

World Mental Health Day took place on 10 October. While the day provides a valuable moment to reflect on mental health and wellbeing, looking after our mental health matters throughout the year. At DPIR, we want to help create a supportive working and learning environment where people know where they can turn for confidential support, practical guidance and advice.

You do not need to wait until things become difficult to make use of wellbeing support. The Department and University offer a range of resources to help you look after yourself, check in with colleagues and find further help when you need it.

Support available to staff and students at the University (please note some of the resources below are on the University’s OxIntranet and require SSO access).

A small check-in can make a difference

World Mental Health Day, marked on 10 October, offered an opportunity to reflect on our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around us. As we look back on the day, it is also a useful reminder that support is available throughout the year. A conversation, a check-in with a colleague, or taking a few minutes to explore the support available can be a positive first step.
