The Oxford Internet Institute (OII) and the Centre for Advanced Social Science Methods (CASSM) at the Department for Politics and International Relations (DPIR) are seeking to appoint an Associate Professor of Politics, Technology and Computational Social Science, to start from approximately Trinity Term 2026. This post is held in association with Reuben College. They will contribute to graduate-level teaching and supervision, participate in admissions, examining and assessment, and engage fully in academic administration across OII, DPIR, and Reuben College. The post-holder will be based in CASSM at DPIR and is expected to divide their time equally between duties in OII and DPIR.
We welcome applications from candidates with a research profile in fields such as computational social science, political science, social data science, or related disciplines. While formal training in political science is not required, applicants should demonstrate a capacity to engage with and contribute to political science literature. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake innovative research that combines advanced computational social science methods with data-driven insights into questions of politics and technology. We strongly encourage applications from women and/or candidates from a BME background as they are currently under-represented in academic posts.
