Leverhulme Visiting Professorships

These professorships enable UK institutions to host distinguished researchers from overseas, primarily to enhance the skills of academic staff or students at the host institution. Visiting professors may also wish to use the opportunity to further their own academic interests and visit more than one UK institution. Funding is worth between £10,000 and £150,000 for visits of between three months and a year, and covers maintenance, travel expenses and research costs. Tenures of six months or more may be spread over two or more visits. Visitors who have previously held a Leverhulme Visiting Professorship can only apply if at least 7 years have elapsed.

Collaborative research alone will not be sufficient justification for a grant. The emphasis should be on the diffusion of skills and expertise. Priority will be given to new or recent collaborative ventures.
