The Nuffield Foundation's mission is to advance educational opportunity and social wellbeing; they fund research that informs social policy, primarily in education, welfare and justice.
You can apply to the Research, Development and Analysis Fund for up to £750k (although the majority of grants funded are less than £300k). You can apply for staff costs (including your own time as PI - the funder expects the PI on the project to contribute at least ½ day a week), and research expenses such as fieldwork, travel, comms/stakeholder engagement costs.
The funder's very helpful Guide for Applicants explains the sort of research they would like to fund, and has more detail on eligible costs.
To apply to the Autumn 2025 Outline Stage, please complete the internal DPIR Expression of Interest form by Monday, 4 August 2025.
