The EU Horizon/UKRI project is looking for a Research Assistant to work with Professor Stephen Whitefield and Dr Spyros Kosmidis on coding and analysis of data relating to emotional rhetoric in political texts. This element of the project will dovetail with research done by other partner institutions on the programmatic content of party appeals, and the work on emotional rhetoric will in turn inform subsequent experimental research in Oxford to test for the lability of emotional responses to political rhetoric.

You will discuss research design with Professor Whitefield and Dr Kosmidis and collect a large corpus of textual data, as well as develop a textual codebook for Research Assistants.

In addition, you will have knowledge of machine learning analysis, while familiarity with the work of colleagues across the university working in the field is desirable.

The position is a fixed-term for two years for and is offered on a part-time basis (ten hours per week).

About you:
