I am a second-year Political Theory student at Magdalen College. Broadly, I am interested in applied moral philosophy and issues of distributive and reparative justice. My MPhil thesis explores the ethics of betting on tragedy (e.g: Polymarket bets about whether specific towns in Ukraine will be captured by Russia within a certain timeframe). What, if anything, is morally objectionable about such bets?
I graduated with a BA in History and Politics from Oxford in 2025. My undergraduate thesis was titled 'Picturing Socialism: Industrial Work in East German Photography, 1949-1990,' which focused on two photographers (Evelyn Richter and Hans-Wulf Kunze) and the ways in which they worked around the strictures of East German cultural policy. It won the German Historical Society's Essay Prize and Magdalen College's Ewen Green Memorial Prize.
