First Lieutenant Aryemis Brown, United States Space Force, reads the Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations at the University of Oxford. Aryemis was the outstanding military graduate and a distinguished graduate from the United States Air Force Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies and Humanities and minors in Religion Studies and Philosophy. While at the Academy, Aryemis commanded the Air Force Cadet Wing as the commander of troops, serving as the highest-ranking cadet, responsible for the leadership and character development of 4,400+ personnel. 

At the University of Oxford, Aryemis serves as the president of the Oxford University Touch Rugby Club and as a voting member of the Oxford University Sports Council and the University’s Sports Strategic Sub-Committee. He also participated in the Global Leadership Initiative and Magdalen College Boat Club. His research focuses on US space operations, norms, and arms control. His MPhil thesis entitled “Duties and Debris: An Analysis of the International Norm Against Conventional Space Weapons” won the Thesis Prize in MPhil International Relations, earning the highest mark in the 2022-2023 cohort. He received a national appointment to contribute to a NATO technical panel on space deterrence.
