DPhil Politics

I am a DPhil (PhD) student in Politics at the DPIR. My research focuses on political communication and state persuasion strategies. Using computational methods, text analysis, and survey experiments, I focus on persuasion via the use of identities and the emphasis of out-groups and in-groups. More precisely, I study what type of out-groups and in-groups regimes tend to emphasise, how are such groups emphasised, under what conditions, and what is their impact on individuals.

Prior to staring my DPhil I have obtained an MPhil in Politics at the University of Oxford and an MSc in Economics at LSE. The former experience has provided me with knowledge in the field of political science, while the latter has extensively trained me in quantitative methods and the use of R, Stata and Python. Additionally, I have worked as a research assistant at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, where I have conducted research on vaccine diplomacy, and financial, humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine. Finally, during my undergraduate degree I was selected to be part of the Honour Students Program at the Institute of Economics and Econometrics at the University of Geneva, where I had the chance to work as a research assistant and to attend weekly research seminars.

Additionally, I have worked part-time as a research intern at the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre, and as a tutor for undergraduate students in mathematics, probability, statistics and econometrics at the University of Geneva. The former role required me to conduct analysis and to construct presentations for the Secretary General’s senior cabinet about the socio-economic, political and humanitarian situation in developing countries.
