Joel Battle is a first-year graduate student at Worcester College, reading an MPhil in International Relations. Before Oxford, he graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA in History and International Relations where he earned a Global Excellence Scholarship the David Boyce Essay Prize. His focal research interests include security studies and US foreign policy. Joel’s MPhil research considers the impact of climate change on UN peacekeeping missions; his academic and research supervisor is Professor Richard Caplan.
Outside of academics, Joel works as a research assistant by analysing peacekeeping data and is enrolled in French language classes. He is also part of Worcester College Boat Club and involved with several societies.
