I am a DPhil candidate in International Relations, generously funded by Nuffield College and the Department of Politics and International Relations.

My research explores the roles of women in shaping colonial and anti-colonial politics. Drawing on the archives of the German colonial administration, I examine how colonial discourse and policy on the female body were instrumental in imagining and enforcing colonial hierarchies. I also investigate how, within the personal sphere, as a site of excessive colonial brutality, colonised women engaged in everyday gestures of anti-colonial resistance in the forms of fugitivity, refusal, and troublemaking. My work is supervised by Professor Patricia Owens.

I completed my MPhil in International Relations at Oxford with distinction and hold a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from King’s College London (First Class Honours), which included a semester at Sciences Po Paris.

Beyond academia, I have worked in policy-making, inter alia, at SEED Foundation based in Sulaymaniyah, co-developing policies to combat online gender-based violence, and at the European Commission in Brussels, focusing on civil protection policy.
