DPIR holds top UK slot in QS World Rankings 2021

Date

Oxford Politics has maintained its formidable reputation for excellence in the field after again securing the top spot in the country for Politics.

The 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject named DPIR first in the UK and third in the world, above the London School of Economics and Princeton, with an overall score of 89.6%.

The achievement continues to build on the success of the Department, which was last year ranked fourth in the world. Harvard University and Sciences Po respectively secured the top spots this year.

Nick Owen, joint Head of Department, commented: ‘Academia is more about co-operation than competition, but it is great for DPIR to be recognised once again in these world rankings, among so many other excellent departments.

‘It shows the hard work, innovation and achievement of all our staff, and the strong global reputation this has created for us.’

The QS World University Rankings By Subject are an annual publication by Quacquarelli Symonds and are based upon academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact.

DPIR is an internationally renowned centre for teaching and research in the field and one of the largest in the UK offering two undergraduate courses and eight DPhil (PhD), MPhil and MSc programmes at the postgraduate level.
