Congratulations to DPIR’s Professor of Political Science and British Politics Jane Green, who has received an Honorary Fellowship from the Market Research Society (MRS).
Professor Green received the Fellowship in recognition of her significant contribution to evidence-base understanding through her work as President of the British Polling Council (BPC) – a key MRS partner. Professor Green has held the role since February 2024.
Honorary Fellowships are awarded to eminent public and business figures who have championed, or who demonstrate the power of research, insight or data from outside the sector.
The judges remarked that Professor Green’s career…. ‘demonstrates a strong commitment to scientific rigour, insight from evidence, and engaging audiences with the story of research.’
Professor Green said: “I am delighted to receive this MRS Honorary Fellowship in my role as President of the BPC and as an academic at the University of Oxford dedicated to research and its communication to inform British public life.
“Public trust in data and evidence is central to a successful democracy, and I’m proud to work to support transparency and accountability in the British polling sector, as well as to highlight high-quality academic research to strengthen the foundations of decision making and the reporting of British politics.”
Since 2015, Professor Green has been an Election Expert for ITV News and is a regular contributor to election analysis and explanation for ITV, the BBC and other outlets. She has been a Co-Director of the British Election Study since 2013, Britain’s longest running social science survey, and is Director of the Nuffield Politics Research Centre, which focuses on political science research and explanation for broader public benefit.
The MRS celebrates its 80th anniversary this year and is the UK’s professional body for research, insight and analytics, representing thousands of members and accredited organisations across more than 50 countries.
It promotes excellence in the sector and upholds high professional standards through its Code of Conduct.
