Dr Federica Genovese to join DPIR

The Department is delighted to announce that Dr Federica Genovese will join the team in January 2024 as Professor in the International Relations and Politics of the European Union and a Fellow of St Antony’s College.

Dr Genovese is currently Associate Professor (Reader) at University of Essex. Previously, she was a Research Fellow at Stanford University. She has had visiting positions at Nuffield College and Collegio Carlo Alberto. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Konstanz (Germany).

Dr Genovese’s research lays at the intersection of international and comparative political economy. Her work focuses on the domestic politics of international crises in the European Union and beyond. She is a renowned expert of the comparative and global politics of climate change.

Dr Genovese’s research has received support from the British Academy, the Carnegie Trust, and a subaward of the International Balzan Prize, among other foundations. She is currently the Principal Investigator of a Leverhulme Trust Research Leadership award on the politics and political economy of climate vulnerability.

I am thrilled to join a great community of scholars and students at Oxford! The world needs systematic and visible social science that seriously engages with the most urgent political problems, such as the climate crisis. I look forward to contributing to the discipline from this world-leading institution.
