Karma Nabulsi awarded "Special Recognition Award" by students

Congratulations to Karma Nabulsi, who received a "Special Recognition Award" at the Oxford University Student Union 2016 Teaching Awards ceremony held on Tuesday 3 May. Karma Nabulsi was recognised for "innovative contributions in her research, for her inspirational teaching in the department and her college, and her robust championing of student causes".

Karma was congratulated for her defence of student welfare and academic freedom, and specific mention was made of how she had effectively mobilised college, department and University opinion to highlight the pernicious aspects of the "Prevent" legislation, and combat racism and Islamophobia.  Receiving the award, Karma said she was honoured to have been nominated by Oxford students, and that she looked forward to continuing to work with them.

She dedicated the award to those students, both present and past, who fought for the freedoms of the University.
