Oxford presence at the ISA in New Orleans

There has been a large Oxford presence at the International Studies Association (ISA) annual meeting that took place in New Orleans from 17 to 21 February, at which over 30 Oxford postdoctoral students, 5 postdoctoral researchers and 7 faculty members attended.

For the second year the department organized an ‘Oxford @ ISA’ reception supported by Oxford University Press.  This took place on Wednesday 18 February and was very well attended by Oxford participants, former students and friends and visitors of Oxford, as well as a large OUP contingent led by Niko Pfund, president of OUP USA.

OUP books won six ISA prizes, including the annual best book award, and will be taking over all of the ISA journals from 2016.  Andrew Hurrell won the Susan Strange Award and is also a member of the ISA long-range planning committee.

ISA is now the largest international studies association in the world with over 7000 members, over 5000 of whom attended the annual meeting. Non-North American membership is just under half of total membership and comes from around 122 countries.  The theme of this year’s meeting was ‘Global IR’.
