Area of research:
My research examines security provision by state and non-state actors across sub-Saharan Africa, extending beyond the framework of rebel governance.
My dissertation investigates the conditions under which diverse security providers—including the state, traditional authorities, vigilante groups, and private security firms—embed themselves within societies, and the implications for human security and state-citizen relations.
Methodologically, I utilise advanced causal inference designs complemented by archival analysis, formal theory, and comparative case studies.
My broader research agenda explores the co-provision of public goods and its impact on developmental outcomes, with a separate strand focusing on reproducibility in the social sciences.
