A book Discussion on Professor Jan Zielonka's new book Is the EU Doomed? (Publication date April 2014) took place on 11 February 2014, with discussants Edward Lucas (The Economist), Kalypso Nicolaïdis (St Antonys College, Oxford), and Andreas Gross (Swiss MP and Head of Socialist Group, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe). The discussion was chaired by Othon Anastasakis (St Antonys College, Oxford).

On 31 January 2014, St. Antonys College hosted a book launch for its Warden Professor Margaret MacMillan's new release 'The War That Ended The Peace: The Road to 1914'. Discussants were Paul Betts (St Antonys College, Oxford), Robert Service (St Antonys College, Oxford), Eugene Rogan (St Antonys College, Oxford), and Adam Roberts (Balliol College, Oxford) and the event was chaired by Othon Anastasakis (St Antonys College, Oxford).
On 24 January 2014, the Centre for International Studies hosted a workshop on The Global Liberal Order and its Future with Professor John Ikenberry (Princeton University and George Eastman Professor, Oxford University, 2013-2014 and Fellow of Balliol College) and Professor Andrew Hurrell (DPIR and Balliol College).

The impact of the Great Depression on politics in the 1930s was both transformative and shocking. The role of government in America was forever transformed, and across Europe socialist, communist, and fascist parties saw their support skyrocket. Most famously, the National Socialists seized power in Germany in 1933, setting off a chain of events that led to the greatest conflagration in world history.
